Aim & Scope

The aim of Cumhuriyet International Education Journal is to contribute to science through interdisciplinary studies in the field of education, to identify changes and needs in education with a universal perspective and to produce original solutions, to provide resources to institutions and organizations in the field of education and program developers, and to offer comprehensive support by publishing studies prepared in both Turkish and English.

The Cumhuriyet International Journal of Education (CIJE) closely follows theoretical and practical developments in the field of educational sciences and supports innovative, research-based studies that contribute to the transformation of educational systems. In response to evolving social, technological, and global dynamics, the journal emphasizes the need to reconsider educational processes and prioritizes the following contemporary research areas:

CIJE particularly encourages theoretical and empirical studies in the areas of:

  • Artificial intelligence–supported learning environments, learning analytics, adaptive instructional systems, and data-driven decision-making processes
  • Digital pedagogical competencies and teachers’ technology literacy
  • Equity, diversity, and inclusion in education; migration, refugee education, and socioeconomic inequalities
  • Universal design for learning and inclusive education practices for individuals with special needs
  • Social-emotional learning, student and teacher well-being, and school-based mental health practices
  • Education for sustainable development, climate change education, and global citizenship
  • 21st-century skills, higher-order thinking, and interdisciplinary learning designs
  • Teachers’ professional development, professional learning communities, and career development models

The journal gives priority to methodologically rigorous research, including studies based on multiple data sources, experimental or quasi-experimental designs, longitudinal research, big data analyses, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses. Submissions are expected to clearly articulate their theoretical foundations and explicitly define their original contributions to the literature.

CIJE supports research grounded in local contexts while meaningfully engaging with the international literature and producing comparative and generalizable knowledge. Adherence to open science principles, data transparency, and ethical research standards constitutes a fundamental publication policy of the journal.

In this framework, the journal aims to disseminate innovative, interdisciplinary studies with the potential to generate global impact in the field of educational sciences.

Manuscripts exhibiting one or more of the characteristics listed below will be excluded from peer review during the editorial pre-screening process.

1. Studies with Insufficient Theoretical Foundation or Scientific Contribution

  • Studies that fail to clearly and systematically identify a gap in the literature,
  • Studies with an underdeveloped or superficial theoretical framework,
  • Studies that do not provide original and meaningful contributions to national or international literature,
  • Studies lacking analytical depth and limited to descriptive reporting of existing conditions.

2. Methodologically Weak Research

  • Studies relying on simple causal analysis based on a single independent variable,
  • Studies using only one data collection instrument without methodological diversity,
  • Studies lacking multiple data sources, analytical depth, or advanced research design,
  • Quantitative studies with sample sizes not justified by scientific reasoning,
  • Instrument development or adaptation studies without adequate validity and reliability evidence,
  • Qualitative or quantitative studies with data analysis processes that do not meet accepted scientific standards.

3. Studies with Limited Scope or Impact Potential

  • Studies measuring only university students’ attitudes or perceptions toward a single course,
  • Textbook analysis studies,
  • Studies based solely on participant opinions without analytical depth,
  • Studies with limited generalizability, restricted to local contexts, and not connected to international literature,
  • Studies outside the core theoretical and applied focus of educational sciences.

CIJE only considers studies that are theoretically well-grounded, methodologically rigorous, supported by multiple data sources, and capable of making meaningful contributions to the field of educational sciences at an international level.
