Abstract

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) eğitiminin amaçlarından birisi de, daha çok öğrencinin STEM alanlarında kariyer yapmalarını sağlayarak STEM işgücünü arttırmaktır. STEM eğitimine verilen önemin artmasına rağmen, dünyadaki birçok ülkede ve Türkiye’de STEM alanlarında kariyer yapan öğrenci sayısında düşüş yaşanmaktadır. STEM kariyer ilgisinin erken yaşlarda oluştuğu, bu nedenle öğrencilerin STEM kariyerleri ile ilgili olarak erken yaşlarda bilgilendirilmeleri gerektiği belirtilmektedir. Bu bağlamda erken yaşlarda STEM kariyer ilgisinin belirlenmesi önemlidir. Bu araştırmanın amacı, Roller ve meslektaşları (2018) tarafından geliştirilen STEM kariyer ilgi ve tercihleri anketinin (SKİTA) Türkçeye uyarlanması, geçerlik ve güvenirlik analizlerinin yapılmasıdır. Araştırmanın katılımcıları, 2019-2020 öğretim yılının birinci döneminde, Manisa ilinin Demirci ilçesinde bulunan iki farklı devlet ortaokulundaki 360 öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. Dil geçerliği sağlanan anket, katılımcılara uygulanmış ve açımlayıcı faktör analizinin ardından doğrulayıcı faktör analizi yapılmıştır. Ölçüt geçerliğini belirlemek için korelasyon analizi gerçekleştirilmiştir. Anketin güvenirliği için Cronbach alpha güvenirlik katsayısı hesaplanmış; anketin ayırt ediciliği için, %27’lik alt ve %27’lik üst grup arasındaki puan farkı bağımsız örneklemler t testi ile hesaplanmıştır. Sonuç olarak Türkçeye uyarlanan SKİTA’nın matematik, fen bilimleri, mühendislik ve teknoloji olmak üzere üç alt boyuttan oluştuğu tespit edilmiştir. Üç boyutlu modelin elde edilen verilerle uyumlu olduğu ve anketin amacına hizmet ettiği anlaşılmıştır. Ortaokul öğrencilerinin STEM kariyer ilgi ve tercihlerinin belirlenmesinde Türkçeye uyarlanan SKİTA’nın geçerli ve güvenilir bir ölçme aracı olarak kullanılabileceği sonucuna varılmıştır.
