Çocuklarda öz düzenleme ve ebeveynlik: Bir ihtiyaç analizi ve program içerik çerçevesi önerisi

Year 2025, Volume: 14 Issue: 4, 811 - 836

Abstract

Children’s self-regulation and parenting: A needs assessment and a program framework recommendation

Year 2025, Volume: 14 Issue: 4, 811 - 836

Abstract

Children’s self-regulation develops from infancy through many factors, mostly related to parents, such as children's attachment to their mothers, their relationships with their parents, parents' attitudes and behaviors, and instructions. Studies showed that disadvantaged children are at risk for self-regulation, and parental behaviors were considered protective factors for the development of self-regulation. Therefore, this study aimed to present a framework for recommending parental program content to develop children's self-regulation. The current study used a descriptive model as the method. The data were gathered through surveys and documentation. A four-stage process was followed in providing a parent-based program framework. Accordingly, the problem was identified, and a systematic literature review was conducted with the studies primarily focusing on intervention programs addressing children's self-regulation and parental behaviors. Based on the literature review, the program framework's theoretical basis was defined, and a needs analysis was conducted using the framework. Accordingly, the data were obtained from 10 intervention programs across 18 studies and from 357 parents of children aged 48-72 months, using a needs assessment form developed from a literature review. The framework recommendation was developed by combining the literature findings and the needs analysis. The framework recommendation can be used in future practices and research and can guide the development of similar interventions.
