Examination of Learning Outcomes in the TYMM-Based Preschool Education Program by Skill Areas and Age Groups

Abstract

This study aims to examine the learning outcomes of the Preschool Education Curriculum (2024), published by the Turkish Ministry of National Education within the scope of the Türkiye Century Education Model, in terms of skill domains and age groups. The study was designed as qualitative research and employed document analysis as the research method. The data were analyzed through descriptive analysis based on the distribution of learning outcomes across domains and age levels in the program document. The findings revealed that the program includes a total of 118 learning outcomes across the domains of language, mathematics, science, social studies, arts, music, and movement and health. Learning outcomes were found to be concentrated predominantly in the social domain, which may be associated with the program’s emphasis on values education, social cohesion, and participation. In the domains of language, mathematics, science, and movement and health, learning outcomes demonstrated a gradual progression according to age levels, whereas a more limited differentiation was observed in the arts and music domains. In the science domain, the outcomes appeared to support a progressive development from basic scientific process skills to more advanced inquiry and problem-solving skills. Overall, the findings suggest that the program reflects a certain degree of developmental appropriateness, skill-based structure, and interdisciplinary coherence. However, the study is limited to document analysis and does not include implementation-based data.
