Öz
This study focuses on the importance of the World Bank in the international financial system and its contribution to economic restructuring resources. In line with its founding purpose, the Bank has been notable for its lending programmes and structural adjustment arrangements to support the economic and social development of countries. However, the Bank's mission has evolved over time in parallel with the changing world order. From the 1990s to the present day, the World Bank, aiming to act in line with the goals of sustainable growth and global cooperation, has worked in harmony with the United Nations Millennium Development Goals and the Sustainable Development Goals adopted in 2015. In this framework, it aims to protect vulnerable groups by emphasising community-oriented development and aid coordination. However, the World Bank has been subjected to serious criticism during the implementation of this mission. In this study, the mission of the World Bank, its founding ideology and its transformation in the context of globalisation are discussed. The political, cultural and economic effects of globalisation are evident in the World Bank. In this context, the roles of institutions such as the World Bank and the IMF, which are considered political, social and economic forces of globalisation, have an impact on policy interactions in peripheral countries.

Öz
Bu çalışma, Dünya Bankasının uluslararası finansal sistemdeki önemine ve ekonomik yeniden yapılandırma kaynaklarına olan katkısına odaklanmaktadır. Banka, kuruluş amacına uygun olarak ülkelerin ekonomik ve sosyal gelişmelerini desteklemek için kredi sağlama programları ve yapısal uyarlamaya yönelik düzenlemelerle dikkat çekmektedir. Ancak, bankanın misyonu zaman içinde değişen dünya düzeniyle paralel olarak evrim geçirmiştir. 1990’lardan günümüze kadar, sürdürülebilir büyüme ve küresel iş birliği hedefleri doğrultusunda hareket etmeyi amaçlayan Dünya Bankası, Birleşmiş Milletler Binyıl Kalkınma Hedefleri ve sonrasında 2015’te kabul edilen Sürdürülebilir Kalkınma Hedefleri ile uyum içinde çalışmıştır. Bu çerçevede, toplum odaklı kalkınma ve yardım koordinasyonuna vurgu yaparak savunmasız grupları koruma amacını taşımaktadır. Ancak, bu misyon uygulama sürecinde Dünya Bankası ciddi eleştirilere maruz kalmıştır. Çalışmada, Dünya Bankasının misyonu, kuruluş ideolojisi ve küreselleşme bağlamında yaşadığı dönüşüm ele alınmıştır. Küreselleşmenin siyasal, kültürel ve ekonomik etkileri, Dünya Bankası üzerinde belirgin bir şekilde görülmektedir. Bu bağlamda, küreselleşmenin politik, sosyal ve ekonomik bir güç olarak nitelendirilen Dünya Bankası ve Uluslararası Para Fonu (IMF) gibi kuruluşların rolleri, çevre ülkelerdeki politika etkileşimleri üzerinde etkili olmaktadır.
