JIGSAW TEKNİĞİNİN KÜMELER VE ÖNERMELER KONUSUNUN ÖĞRETİMİNDE ÖĞRENCİLERİN AKADEMİK BAŞARISINA ETKİSİ / THE EFFECT OF JIGSAW TECHNIQUE ON THE ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT OF STUDENTS IN THE TEACHING OF PROPOSITION AND SETS
Öz
Bu çalışmanın amacı; İlköğretim matematik bölümünü birinci sınıf
öğrencilerinin akademik başarısına, soyut matematik dersinde bulunan kümeler
ve önermeler konusunun öğretiminde geleneksel metot ile karşılaştırmalı olarak
işbirlikçi öğrenme metodunun jigsaw tekniğinin etkisini belirlemektir. Çalışma
grubunu; 2010-2011 öğretim yılında Atatürk üniversitesi K.K.Eğitim fakültesi
ilköğretim matematik bölümü birinci sınıfa devam eden 61 birinci öğretim
öğrencisi deney grubu ve 55 ikinci öğretim öğrencisi kontrol grubu olmak üzere
toplam 116 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Veri toplama aracı olarak dört uzmanın
görüşü ve tavsiyeleri doğrultusunda hazırlanan ve geçerliliği sağlanan 20
soruluk başarı testi kullanıldı. Çalışmadan elde edilen ön-test son-test verileri
ANCOVA ile analiz edilerek deney grubu öğrencilerinin ortalaması kontrol
grubu öğrencilerinin ortalamasından daha yüksek bulundu. Grupların etki
boyutu seviyesi 0,5 olarak tespit edildi. Bu çalışmaya göre, Kümeler ve önermeler
konusunun öğretiminde akademik başarıyı artırmada geleneksel metot ile
karşılaştırıldığında jigsaw tekniğinin daha etkili olduğu ortaya konulmuştur.

The purpose of the study is to determine the effects of Jigsaw technique,
which is used in cooperative learning method comparied to conventional method
on the academic achievement of the first-year students attending the process of
instruction of the subjects of sets and propositions included pure mathematics
lesson in department of elementary school mathematics.
The grup of the study consists of 116 first-class students attending in first
teaching (N:61 as experiment group) and second teaching (N: 55 as control
group) of Atatürk University, K.K Education Faculty , Department of Elementary
School Mathematics Education in 2010-2011 academic year. As the data
collection instrument, an achievement test of 20 questions the content validity of
which was determined by advices and approvals of four experts was used. In the
light of the data obtained from the study, the means of the experiment group
students were found to be higher than the means of the control group students, in
order to evaluate the post-tests by covariation of the pre-test groups was used
ANCOVA. The level of effect size the groups was found as 0.5.
